Description: The Dwelling Frame is a spatially referenced framework of structures within South Africa. The primary function of the Dwelling Frame is to provide a base for statistical sampling frames required for surveys and censuses in Stats SA and other organisations. A secondary function of the Dwelling Frame is the creation of a database of addresses for each dwelling and where addresses don’t exist, to assign addresses. The Dwelling Frame commenced in 2005 and initially it was an outsourced project in selected municipalities of Eastern Cape and Limpopo. After two years of outsourcing, it was decided to do the project internally and to expand the coverage to the entire country. The internal Dwelling Frame started in 2008 but due to budget constraints the project was scaled down during 2009. Since 2009 the Dwelling Frame has been updated and enhanced using data from the following sources:- Administrative sources (such as municipal data), the capture of Census 2011 Listing Records, the Spot Building Count created by Eskom, the DF 2014 Data Integration process, the Address Assignment process and the DF 2015 Update process using the Siyakha web-mapping tool. While Address Assignment continues to update the Dwelling Frame in the traditional areas, the Dwelling Frame Update process is essentially a desktop exercise using various datasets as reference data.DF2015_1204 is the second release of the Dwelling Frame to be published in 2015. It is an update of the previous release being DF2014.The coverage and completeness of the dataset as well as Feature_Cat and DU_count received particular attention in this release. The following fields still need attention: - Street_Name, Property_Name, and SDI_cnt as well as those records flagged for verification. The above issues will be addressed in future releases and during the integration and update of the Dwelling Frame dataset.

Description: The reason behind the sourcing of this data was brought within by lack of spatial location of Disaster Incidents projects to address disaster occurrences in the province. What you should know about this data is that it includes amongst others the following variables:Affected: People requiring immediate assistance during a period of emergency, i.e. requiring basic survival needs such as food, water, shelter, sanitation, and immediate medical assistance.Injured: People suffering from physical injuries, trauma or an illness requiring immediate medical assistance as a direct result of a disaster.Homeless: Number of people whose house is destroyed or heavily damaged and therefore need shelter after an event.Flood: A general term for the overflow of water from a stream channel onto normally dry land in the floodplain, higher-than-normal levels along the coast and in lakes or reservoirs (coastal flooding) as well as ponding of water at or near the point where the rain fell (flash floods).Mud/ Landslide: Any kind of moderate to rapid soil movement incl. lahar, mudslide, debris flow. A mud/ landslide is the movement of soil or rock controlled by gravity and the speed of the movement usually ranges between slow and rapid, but not very slow. It can be superficial or deep, but the materials must make up a mass that is a portion of the slope or the slope itself. The movement must be downward and outward with a free form.Extreme weather: Storm.Veld fire: Any uncontrolled and non-prescribed combustion or burning of plants in a natural setting such as a forest, grassland, brush land or tundra, which consumes the natural fuels and spreads based on environmental conditions (e.g., wind, topography). Veld fire can be triggered by lightning or human actions.Status:Progress: CompleteMaintenance and Update Frequency: As needed
