<div style="font-family:'Segoe UI';font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;line-height:20px;">This dataset represents the spatial distribution of potential groundwater pollution areas, derived through a weighted multi‑criteria analysis of land cover types and pollution‑related activities. The assessment incorporates mining, settlements, agricultural land uses, and perennial water features to evaluate cumulative pollution potential. The resulting raster and municipal‑level summaries provide insight into areas where groundwater resources may be at higher risk of contamination.</div><div style="font-family:'Segoe UI';font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;line-height:20px;"> </div><div style="font-family:'Segoe UI';font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;line-height:20px;"><p>Potential groundwater pollution areas were identified using a weighted land‑cover–based spatial analysis. Land Cover data from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment was used to represent pollution‑related features such as mining, settlements, agriculture, and industrial areas. Each land cover type was assigned a pollution‑potential weight based on its expected contribution to groundwater contamination.</p><p>The weighted classes were converted to raster layers and integrated in ArcGIS Pro using the Raster Calculator to produce a composite pollution‑potential surface. The resulting raster was summarised at municipal level using the Zonal Statistics as Table tool, allowing identification of municipalities with higher pollution hazard scores.</p></div> |
